This house has been a bastion on Mash Island since 1966. Tall pines, palms, and oak trees surround the house on its half-acre lot with 200-ft dock.

If boating and fishing are your thing, you will love the convenience of a free public boat ramp less than a mile from the house.

For those who just want to relax, the wrap-around screened porch is a great place to take in the sights and sounds of nature, and the Gulf breezes that blow into the Bay.

The incredible hexagon-shaped great room offers a space for family gatherings. The island bar and kitchen area provide for easy interactions with your guests while cooking for your crew. The 40-inch flat screen HD TV with Dish Network service is within view of the kitchen and dining areas, so you won't miss the big game even if you are the chef for the day.

This area is a pristine natural environment with only residential homes for retirement or weekend getaways.  There are no giant condo hotels. There's virtually no traffic.  Besides nature, the only sounds you are likely to hear would be an occasional fishing boat passing by.

Below are a couple pics of Mashes Sands Beach, a state park at the end of Mash Island.

There is a public fishing pier and hiking trail that are also part of the state park within a mile of the house.

When you are traveling to the house, look for the flashing yellow light before the mile-long bridge over Ochlockonee Bay. You turn left (South) towards Angelo's Restaurant onto Mashes Sands Road. Then travel 1.5 miles and look for the mailbox with 501 displayed in yellow reflectors. Turn into the common driveway after the mailbox and park close to the yellow house on the right.

This is a mural that my daughter painted on the wall inside the street-side porch. It depicts an actual local sunset on the bay.

After spending some time taking in this beautiful natural environment, you are likely to fall in love with the place just like we did! Why not give it a try? Call if you have any questions that we didn't answer with the website.

This is "Sunset Therapy", our 3BR/2BA bayfront home at 501 Mashes Sands Road, Panacea, FL 32346

\

Located on Mash Island bordering the east side of Ochlockonee Bay and the west side of Dickerson Bay (Panacea, FL), we get pleasant gulf breezes and spectacular sunset views over the water all year long. . .

We have a 200-foot long dock that can be used for boating, fishing, or just taking in the gulf breezes, warm rays, or sunset views. . .

And did we mention the SUNSET VIEWS?? Yeah, I know I did, but there is literally a light show almost every night that will warm your heart and make you smile at the wonder of mother nature in this area. . .

It's difficult to overemphasize the sunset thing, as you can see:

The architecture of this house, built in 1966, is also spectacular. The central great room is hexagon-shaped and 28 feet in diameter, with the 3 sides facing Ochlockonee Bay being lined with windows and a french door that gives a nearly 180 degree view.  The great room contains the kitchen, dining, and living room areas, with an island bar and 4 barstools, dining table seating 6, and a couch/chairs conversation group. The 40-inch HD TV with DishNetwork service can be viewed from anywhere in this room. We also have a stereo system with speakers that can play music inside, outside, or both, including an ipod/mp3 jack, as well as a DVD player for the TV.  The kitchen includes a 20 cubic foot refrigerator, pantry closet, microwave, smooth top stove, blender, and all the pots, pans, plates, utensils, etc. that you are likely to need. The flooring is vinyl tile throughout the house.

The hexagonal dome ceiling structure is made of large beams supporting tongue-in-groove panels rising up to 14 feet in the center of the room. We installed special dimmer lights on each wall facing upward to capture the incredible ambiance of this room.

Just outside the great room through the french doors is the old Florida-style "Sleepin' Porch" that wraps around the back side. It's about 10 feet wide and wraps around about 50 feet long. On one side it has the porch sitting area and the other side has the BBQ grille and a comfy hammock, all protected from the sun and screened to keep the bugs out and let the breezes in.

The "wings" on either side of the great room include the Master Bedroom side and the Guest Bedroom side.  There are actually two master bedrooms at opposite ends of the house, both of which are 12 by 15 feet with two bayfront windows and one back side window.  The Master Bedroom side has a king size bed, dresser, bedside table, and office desk with computer and wireless internet service.  This side also has a full bathroom with 30 x 60-inch shower and a washer and dryer area.  The Guest Bedroom side has the larger bedroom with 2 queen size beds and dresser. There is a smaller bedroom with XL twin trundle beds (2), and the guest bathroom has a corner glass shower enclosure. All the linens and bath towels are provided.
